Life In Tulsa
Here's a snippet of what happens on a daily basis in the Tulsa Link Year, as well as great things the city has to offer.
One of the cool things about doing a link year in a city (especially our city) is that you do your learning & your contributing, where people live.
Going to a camp or retreat setting for your link year is a great thing-in fact most of us got our start in camp ministry. We get camp ministry. But we've also seen some amazing things happen in urban settings. It's a unique setting because you get to see some things close up, first-hand. Things like poverty, neighborhood communities, politics,& transportation issues.
Tulsa has become a crossroads for great living in the US. From biking and running on the river; to night life and great eating in the Blue Dome District, Cherry Street, or Brookside; to great concerts and entertainment. (We recently had visits from Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, Kings of Leon, as well as a wealth of Christian artists such as Chris Tomlin and the Newsboys.) The cost of living is low, the people are friendly, and the city is open to ministry to its people.
In your Link Year- your week will be filled with your internship, your classes, and your service to your community. You'll also have some free time to hang out and enjoy your friends.
